The societies - purpose and background
The NNS and KIVI-NIRIA-Ke want to further the interest in nuclear technology, contribute to the development of its members and facilitate the exchange of information, views and expertise among its members. The organisations share the major positions in their boards, like the president.
The Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI-NIRIA), dept. of Nuclear Technology ('Kerntechniek' in Dutch) and the Netherlands Nuclear Society (NNS) are Dutch societies of mostly scientists and engineers in the nuclear sectors. The members work in various businesses and have various backgrounds. Members are employed by government, research institutes, medical industries, hospitals and utilities.
Organisation
The NNS shares its secretariat with the department 'Kerntechniek' (Ke) of the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI-NIRIA). Refer to the main website of KIVI-NIRIA at www.ingenieurs.net. The NNS is associated with the European Nuclear Society (ENS), which has about 20.000 members.
