Dutch Young Generation - Home
The Dutch Young Generation (DYG) is the young members section of the Netherlands Nuclear Society (NNS), which is also presented on this kerntechniek.nl portal.
Organisation
The DYG has an executive committee, headed by a 'president'. This president is also part of the board of our parent organisation, the Netherlands Nuclear Society (NNS).
DYG liaison officers have been nominated at a number of companies and government departments which are not represented in the executive committee.
Motivation
The nuclear technology community is faced with a problem. Many of the sectors pioneers are reaching retirement age and the danger exists that the knowledge, experience and professional networks that they have built up will disappear. In order to minimise this loss of knowledge and experience it is desirable that a new generation step forward to take over the tasks of the old: the Young Generation. The European Nuclear Society (ENS) has recognised this and aims, via the Young Generation network, to stimulate the development of young professionals in the nuclear sector. The ENS hopes to achieve this through exchange programmes, workshops, seminars and international projects.
Objectives of the DYG
- To establish and maintain a national network for young people interested in nuclear technology;
- To establish and maintain a forum for European Young Generation activities;
- To stimulate the transfer of knowledge and experience between the Young Generation and the older generations and;
- To stimulate interest in nuclear technology and its applications.
Joining the DYG
Membership of the DYG is subject to the following conditions:- Members should have an interest in the peaceful application of nuclear technology;
- For the DYG, as for the ENS Young Generation, there is an age limit of 35. This implies that anyone who is 35 years old or younger on the 1st of January of a given year, can become a member of the DYG for that year;
- Members should be or become members of the Netherlands Nuclear Society (NNS). The DYG will make use of NNS and KIvI-kerntechniek facilities. It was therefore decided that the DYG should formally be a part of the NNS.
